Ritual
Texts.
Greek magical material read through language, structure, voice and performance.
The source work begins by asking what a ritual text actually preserves: its sequence, voice, material instructions, divine names and claims to authority. Interpretation comes before reconstruction.
The Greek Magical Papyri form a recurring centre of this work. The emphasis is on what a ritual text actually asks a practitioner to do: how authority is established, how divine names function, how a sequence changes the speaker’s position, and what happens when the written text is voiced.
