RITUAL & RECITATION / 02
Guided
Contemplation.
Meditation built from texts, images, breath and the architecture of ascent.
The guided meditations grew from the texts themselves. They were designed to move from historical and linguistic understanding into sustained attention, image, breath and contemplative experience without separating practice from its source.
Saint Bonaventure’s Itinerarium mentis in Deum provided one architecture for ascent through world, senses, soul, grace, spiritual perception, wisdom, being, goodness, Christ and silence. Dante supplied another architecture of descent, purification and return.
